Tomas Allen Librarian World Health Organization Library and Information Networks for Knowledge Avenue Appia 20 CH-1211 Geneva Switzerland tomasallen_who@hotmail.com Initiative to estimate the global burden of leptospirosis - call for advisers Leptospirosis is a neglected zoonotic disease with a significant health impact in many parts of the world. Recognizing the need for reliable information on the impact of Leptospirosis at the global level, The World Health Organization (WHO) initiated a study to estimate the global burden of Leptospirosis. A call for advisers to serve on a Leptospirosis Burden Epidemiology Reference Group (LERG) is now active. Specific leptospirosis knowledge is not required to apply since LERG is envisaged to be a multi-disciplinary group requiring scientists with a variety of skills, including infectious disease epidemiology, burden of disease, epidemiological modelling and clinical disease. More information on the initiative and on the application process can be found on the following web-link: http://www.who.int/zoonoses/diseases/lerg/en/index.html
