Initiative to estimate the global burden of leptospirosis - call for advisers
Leptospirosis is a neglected zoonotic disease with a significant health
impact in many parts of the world. Recognizing the need for reliable
information on the impact of Leptospirosis at the global level, The World
Health Organization (WHO) initiated a study to estimate the global burden
of Leptospirosis. A call for advisers to serve on a Leptospirosis Burden
Epidemiology Reference Group (LERG) is now active. Specific leptospirosis
knowledge is not required to apply since LERG is envisaged to be a
multi-disciplinary group requiring scientists with a variety of skills,
including infectious disease epidemiology, burden of disease,
epidemiological modelling and clinical disease.
