The Jungle library at Calais
Friends: The mass migration from the Middle East and East Africa and the deaths of thousands of people are truly tragic. Luckily, several countries have come forward to take in many of those migrants. But for those still in refugee camps life continues to be uncertain. They need hope. They need to learn to adapt to their new surroundings. There are people ready to help them. One of them is a librarian called Mary Jones. I do not know if she was a librarian before. But now she is one of the finest. The Jungle library she set up is now talked about the world over. What did Mary Jones do? She set up a basic library in ramshackle shed put up at a refugee camp in Calais in northern France. What a great library it is! What kind of services she has thought of for the library all within a month! The Press in the West - The Guardian, The Spectator, The New York Times, The Huffington Post, and many more - has reported the work of Mary Jones. Please see a few of them in the attached file. Please read it in full. Best wishes.
