Knowledge has always been the prime mover for prosperity. It is important to take up the mission of integrating all forms of knowledge and culture into our digital library. In the venture, we should ensure availability of fibre optic cables, satellite communication and wireless infrastructure, especially in remote areas. The award was given for excellence in Mahabharata and Indic systems. Also, Mahabharata Lakshalankara, a critical edition of 500-year-old commentary on Mahabharata, was released and a project to prepare an encyclopaedia of Mahabharata was launched. Let us hope that the heads of institutions and LIS professionals take the
suggestion of the President seriously and go about digitizing their
collections, and set up institutional open access archives. The record so
far is not much to boast about.
