Today The Library and Information Centre of an internationally acclaimed premier institute, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) (an Institute of National Importance) is one of the finest libraries in the country. The faculty, doctors, scientists and research scholars and students regularly publish their research papers in the internationally reputed quality peer reviewed journals. The library has always stood as a best information access support to them in their endeavor to highly specialized activities like patient care, health education and research. Specialists and professionals from all across the country visit this library to utilize the specialized rare collection of this library and other library services. In the early 1980s highly acclaimed Professionals like Dr. M Ishwara Bhat, and later DR. H. S. Siddamallaiah headed and heralded this great Library to the current cutting edge e-end library. Many dedicated and committed library professionals have put in their fine tuned services and skills, and all these resulted in putting this National Neuroscience Information centre on a global map par excellence. Just last year only Dr. H.S.Siddamallaiah, Principal Library and Information Officer of this library retired on 31 Jul 2013 (Currently he is: Visiting Professor, Faculty of Informatics, Mahasarakham University, Thailand). And this year, now, again one of the best rendered library professionals of this library, of a very long standing, Dr. B.R. Bhanumathi Yadav, Senior Librarian is going to retire on 30 Apr 2014. It is a well noted fact among the close senior Library Science Professionals that Bhanumathi is admired for her 'pleasant adamant stance' as always among the friend circles. It is an open fact that literally Bhanumathi has been groomed and developed in close proximity with a high stature professional personality like Dr. Siddamallaiah, for over many years. Bhanumathi joined NIMHANS Library as Library Assistant in the year 1981. Soon in 1982 she became Librarian and later in 1999 she has been elevated to Senior Librarian position. Before joining the NIMHANS Library, she has had a 5 years professional work experience for having worked at Bangalore University library, and DRTC. She has been awarded Ph.D.Degree in the year 2005 from Karnatak University, Dharwad. Her Guide and Mentor is Dr. C. R. Karisiddappa, Former Chairman and Professor of the Department of Library and Information Science, (and the Dean, Social Sciences), Karnataka University, Dharwad. Her thesis title: Design and Development of Integrated Information System and Services for Women Health: An Exploratory Community Based Study. Dr. Bhanumathi has over 7 scientific papers published to her credit. She has formally and informally Guided over 5 M. Phil. scholars from Annamalai Univeristy and other universities from Andra Pradesh. She has been always a best inspiration and motivating force to the young and upcoming budding Library Science students and professionals. She has rendered her best user-friendly information services in the library, which helped her win many hearts of the students and faculty members of this reputed institute of National Importance - NIMHANS. At this juncture, no doubt we miss her and now only the memories may remain there. We all the Library Staff @ NIMHANS wish her all the best and more. Thank you.
