The new National Educational Policy, 2020: What is in it for Libraries? – A Librarian’s Day Webinar – 12 August 2020, 3-5 PM

Welcome to Librarian’s Day Celebration! https://bit.ly/IPLSRR2020https://bit.lyi/PLSRR2020 India's much awaited new National Education Policy 2020, was released last week. The first policy on education was unveiled in 1968, followed by the second in 1986 which was revised in 1992. The current policy is third in the series. Many questions spring up in this context. What is the place of Libraries in this policy? Is there a new vision for libraries in education? Is this policy in-tune with the transformational changes in the role and shape of libraries that is being witnessed in the current digital age? Are there new role-recognitions for the LIS profession which is enthusiastic about re-positioning as lead players in the information and knowledge management domain? The topic is hot and the time is right for this year’s Librarian’s Day to debate on libraries in the educational ecosystem of the country as envisioned in the new policy. Sharada Ranganathan Endowment for Library Science, a charitable Trust promoted by Dr. Ranganathan, is organising this year’s Librarians’ Day by arranging a webinar on “The Place of Libraries in the National Education Policy, 2020: Integrating the Learning Landscapes”.
