Friends: It is just not publishers of S&T journals and bibliographic databases who swindle the academic and research community with exorbitant prices. Those who publish college textbooks are not angels either. I am pointing to two articles (among the many that have appeared in the past two years). 1. < http://www.aei-ideas.org/2012/12/the-college-textbook-bubble-and-how-the-ope...

The fault, I believe, is with us - the academics, researchers, and librarians. We have allowed such loot for years. In an era of open educational resources, open course ware and MOOCs, we can no longer allow such a racket to continue. In the US, a number of universities are acting. When will we in India wake up?
