Indian Institute of Astrophysics & Indian Institute of Science libraries are planning to organize jointly a ‘National Workshop on Preserving Scientific Heritage’ during the second half of January 2008. The Objective is to create an awareness of the importance of historical materials available in several organizations in the country and to formulate guidelines for institutions to help them set up the archives. Areas to be covered are - Collection policy - Preservation - Conservation - Display - Digitization - Copyright standards and issues - Cost analysis Scientific Institutions and Universities who are contemplating setting up of an archives or those who have already started work in this area are invited to participate in this workshop.
