Mysore University omitted in the List of Indian Universities offering PhD in LIS

Hi, I would like to draw the attention of omission of University of Mysore in the list of Indian Universities which offers PhD in LIS recently posted in LIS-FORUM. The Department of Library and Information Science (MyDLIS), University of Mysore, Mysore was one of the early universities in India to have introduced Ph.D in LIS. As early as 1976, Mysore DLIS started the Ph.D programme by identifying Prof. A. Neelameghan and Prof. D.B. Krishna Rao as external academic supervisors for guiding doctoral students. The first Ph.D in Library and Information Science from University of Mysore was awarded in the year 1982. Incidentally, it may be noted that MyDLIS has pioneered in many academic activities. Bachelors in Library Science was started in 1965 and Masters in 1971. MyDLIS was the first in Karnataka to start a two-year MLISc programme in 1992. PGDLA was started in 1993. MPhil was started in the year 1994. MyDLIS experimented offering two courses simultaneously. In addition to MLISC, Masters of Information Management (MIM) was launched in 2001. Curricullum innovations are our hallmark. MyDLIS was the one of the early LIS departments to introduce 'Electives', project work, work experience and many such innovations. -- N.S.
