Opinion on Stock verification process.....

Dear Library Professionals, I am working in an Engineering college in Pune (Maharashtra) as an Library Asst. since last 3 years. Every year we conduct stock taking process. But every time may be due to lack of sufficient staff we could not conduct it satisfactorily. We are having 25000 books collection. and printed journals near about 2000., Furniture items around 300 etc. Also our management says that circulation must be continued while stock verification. Circulation can not be stopped because every year they suggest to conduct this activity while students examination is going on. Another problem is committee members do come at their convenient time and attend their duties. In the last everyone realizes that all is not well and a report can not be generated. So what can you suggest in regard so that stock taking process will not become hard duty. What is the method for stock verification so that within a week process can be completed and an accurate report can be generated, considering that there are only 5 to 6 people available for the process.
