Documentation Research & Training Centre (DRTC) Indian Statistical Institute 8th Mile, Mysore Road, RVCE Post Bangalore, 560059 STUDENT COLLOQUIUM 4 Title : Science 2.0 Abstract Science 2.0 refers the use of Web 2.0 tools and technologies to increase transparency and to encourage collaboration throughout the research process. Web 2.0 technologies together with creative commons offer entirely new ways to publish, share, discuss and reproduce scientific findings and data. Integration of those web 2.0 tools (i.e blogs, wikis, scientific social networks, collaborative tools etc.) is useful for sharing scientific findings of research thus make the research freely accessible to a wider public. In this colloquium we will present the benefits and motivation of the concepts of science 2.0 together with some web 2.0 tools, which are helpful for sharing research & results. Nevertheless here we will talk about, how the web 2.0 services can be implemented in libraries to distribute scholarly contents, alongside some challenges and drawback of science 2.0.
