Re: [LIS-Forum] Adopting ORCID as a unique identifier will benefit all involved in scholarly communication
Many research institutions and university are using ORCID data for research activity monitoring and also for uploading research works of researchers in their institutional repository. In Khalifa University, we have ORCID Institutional membership and make use of ORCID data through ORCID API. Please see our libguide http://libguides.kustar.ac.ae/orcid Individual ORCiD is free and users can import their data from SCOPUS, web fof Science, Google Scholar and many other reosurces. Having an ORCID ID would definitely help researchers in many ways - Will make your work discoverable by others - Connects your research to you throughout your career, no matter how your name appears in publication - Distinguishes you from other researchers with similar names - Minimizes the time you spend filling out forms when submitting research or applying for grants - Is required by many major journal publishers and funders University libraries can take the lead for Institutional ORCID implementation. *Nikesh Narayanan *I E-System Librarian I Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research <http://www.kustar.ac.ae/> PO Box 127788, Abu Dhabi, UAE Mobile : +971507097346 -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
