Dear all It is really shocking to know about the sad demise of Prof. Ganesh Bhattacharyya, who is one of the few researchers in India to make seminal contributions to LIS. He was actively associated with the development of POPSI as a successful indexing system, and formulation of subject categories as independent to classification schemes, simultaneously using the principles of classification. He was also a charismatic orator and was having the ability to clearly convey his ideas to the audience at large. Dear all,
It is very much shocking to me!!! I was fortunate to attend his few
lectures. I felt spell bound after listening to him. His through of
English words was too good to praise. I think everybody will agree with me
if I say that he was too much loving to everyone. I always felt that he
loved me more than the others. But while talking to others I came to know
that he also loved them in the same way. What a good teacher and
contributor in Information Science he was!!
Let us pray to god for his soul to be in peace.

Dear Professional Colleagues,
It is shocking to hear the sad demide of Professor Ganesh
Bhattacharya. His was a great soul. A passionate human being and a original
thinker. He was also instrumental in making the flag of DRTC fly high as its
Head in addition to stalwarts like Prof.A.Neelameghan, Prof. M.A.Gopinath
and others. As a teacher and researcher he earned highest reputation for
himself and the institutaion. His fundamental contributions like POPSI and
other research papers earned him international recognition.
His love and kindness for students edeared him to them. His lectures
,teachings and discussions are still remembered by many students and
professionals. He used to be so lively in seminars and conferences and
always used to leave a lasting impress upon the participants.He will be
remembered by all for all his contributions for a long time to come.
Another star has set in the skies of LIS.
Let the Almighty give his family particularly Mrs.Bhattacharya ,all the
streangth required to sustain such an enormous but inevitable loss. .
