Subject: Public institutions should not be party to unethical practices Friends, This paper may be of interest to you. https://katinamagazine.org/content/article/open-knowledge/2025/academic-databases-and-the-art-of-the-overcharge?utm_source=Katina+Magazine&utm_campaign=2b02f68eff-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2024_11_26_01_16_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-e17bcf3913-363943475 It tells you how unscrupulous commercial publishers are selling the same products at different prices to different institutions. Also, I don't understand why Indian government and government-aided institutions who use taxpayers' money to subscribe to journals and databases meekly and *unethically* accept the non-disclosure agreements dictated by the publishers. Do you sign such agreements when you buy a car or a shirt? Please read the article and tell me what you think of it.
