The main objective of digital image processing is to visually enhance and statistically evaluate some part or aspect of an image not readily available in its original form. We find examples of image processing in our daily lives mostly in the medical field like CT-Scan and MRI etc. Originally digital image processing started in the field of remote sensing for weather forecasting,traffic control,navigation and so on. But it is now emerging into the various fields like character recognition, face recognition, finger print matching etc. This seminar will discuss the history and fundamental steps of digital image processing. The main focus of the seminar will be the applications of digital image processing in the fields of medicine, GIS and museums.
