Since its inception in 1969, IATLIS has been active in taking up several issues of LIS Education in India especially relating to the development of curriculum, teaching methods, infrastructure, teachers’ training, etc. It actively works for the promotion of the professional interests of LIS teachers. As part of its activities, it conducts national seminars, workshops, training programmes, etc. It brings out its official organ ‘IATLIS Communications’ besides publishing conference volumes. This year the annual IATLIS conference is being held at Documentation Training and Research Centre (DRTC), at Bangalore on the broad theme of *“LIS Education and Research: Contemplating Persistent and Debatable Issues” from 26-28 December 2012* *DRTC:*Documentation Research and Training Centre (DRTC) established by Prof. S R Ranganathan in 1962, is a research centre at Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) conducting Research, Training and Higher Education in the field Library and Information Sciences and allied areas. The paper should not be more than 3000 words. Please send your paper both in print and electronic form on a CD in Microsoft Word and also a soft copy through email to iatlis2012@gmail.com. The paper should include Title, Name and Address of author(s), Abstract and Key Words. References at the end of the paper and their in-text citing should be according to APA Style manual. The registration fee does not include accommodation charges. Papers presented at the conference will be published in the post-conference volume and would be sent to the registered delegates later on. Delegates are requested to include registration fees for accompanying persons while forwarding their registration forms since it would not be possible to entertain last minute request in view of shortage of accommodation. Accompanying persons shall not be entitled for conference kits. Delegates are requested to intimate their travel plan in advance to avoid inconvenience. Charges for accommodation are to be borne by the participants as per actuals. Bangalore is host to several hotels and hostels catering to all budgets. Delegates can also make their booking on their own. *Climate and Clothing:* Weather is generally pleasant in December in Bangalore with temperatures between 15-27 degrees Celsius. Heavy woolens are not required but sweaters and shawls are advisable. *How to reach DRTC, Indian Statistical Institute: * *By Bus* The city bus service is known as BMTC (or BTS) and its main terminal is right opposite the city railway station. Please use the subway from outside the railway station to reach the BTS bus station. (The area that covers the railway station, bus station etc. is known as Majestic.) You may take a Kengeri bound bus (nos. 222A, 226A and 403A) from platform no. 19A to come to ISI. Platform no. 19A is closest to the railway station. Ask for a ticket to "Jairamdas Bus stop". (The ISI bus stop is known as 'Jairamdas'.) This bus stop is just after the University Gate bus stop and just before the R. V. College bus stop. The bus journey takes 30-40 minutes. *By Air * Bangalore International Airport is approximately one and a half hour drive from the Institute about 56 kms. It handles direct flights from a number of national and international destinations. A journey by taxi from the air port to the Institute will cost approximately Rs.1050/- *By Rail* Bangalore, is well connected with rail and roads. There are plenty of trains from all the major cities of India to Bangalore City. Indian Statistical Institute, which is next to the Bangalore University, is about 12 km on the way to Mysore from the city railway station.
