Call papers on Information Literacy in promoting e-resources & its empowerment for LIS professionals
*Dear friends,* * * It gives me an immense pleasure in informing you that we at DBIT in association with AKELPA is organizing a two day National level seminar on “Information Literacy in promoting e-resources and its empowerment for LIS professionals” on 2nd and 3rd of November 2012. In this regard, we are intending to bring out the proceedings on the theme of the Seminar and to receive the papers on or before 25-10-2012. Hence, interested participants are requested to submit the papers in the area of research, technical and also on case studies on or before the stipulated dates i.e 20-10-2012. *About the Seminar:* * * The activity of e-Resources promotion & empowerment of the user community is the major challenge in 21st century’s digital era. This Seminar will be essentially focused on all contemporary issues related to Information Literacy in promoting e-Resources and its empowerment for LIS professionals and their impact on changing the Information literacy Paradigm. A galaxy of Luminaries from the field of Information literacy (IL) will gather together to address some of the Challenging issues like Information Literacy, Standards, e-Resources promotion and empowerment for LIS professional’s etc. Therefore, this Seminar provides an opportunity to enhance our skills to meet the changing needs of the information society and helps LIS professionals to improve their efficiency and effectiveness at workplace by improving his/her skills set. In the era of Information technology, Information storage and retrieval has become unbelievable. The uncertain quality and expanding quantity of information poses a large challenge to information users / Information seekers and library and Information Science professionals. The available information resources are multifarious in nature and range from printed documents, e-Resources, WebPages, on-line databases of full text / Bibliographic journals and other multimedia formats. The new paradigm emphasizes the empowerment of students and encourages them to take control of their own learning.
