INDIAN STATISTICAL INSTITUTE Documentation Research & Training Centre (DRTC) 8th Mile, Mysore Road, RVCE Post Bangalore-560 059 COLLOQUIUM:-6 Libraries in the Era of Internet of Things Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) alludes to the ever-growing network of physical objects that feature an IP Address for internet connectivity, and the communication that occurs between these objects and other internet-enabled devices and systems. In the IoT technologies, sensors and actuators embedded in physical objects are linked through wired and wireless networks. Like any other service industries, this technology also has a huge potential in the betterment of library services. This colloquium attempts to explain what is Internet of Things, the technology and its growth, examples from service industries and deliberate on its possible impact on libraries and identify potential library areas where it can be implemented effectively.
