*About the IATLIS*
The Indian Association of Teachers of Library and Information Science
(IATLIS) is a professional association of more than 600 teachers and
professionals in Library and Information Science in India. Since its
inception in 1969, IATLIS has been active in taking up several issues of
LIS Education in India especially relating to the development of
curriculum, teaching methods, infrastructure, teacher training, etc. It
actively works for the promotion of the professional interests of LIS
teachers. As part of its activities, it conducts national seminars and
webinars, workshops, and training programmes. It publishes conference
proceedings and also an electronic journal “IATLIS Journal of Library

*About the University*
The University of Jammu and Kashmir was founded in the year 1948. In the
year 1969 it was bifurcated into two full-fledged Universities: University
of Kashmir at Srinagar and University of Jammu at Jammu. The University of
Kashmir is situated at Hazratbal in Srinagar. It is flanked by the world
famous Dal Lake on its eastern side and Nigeen Lake on the western side.
The Main Campus of the University spread over 247 acres of land is divided
into three parts – Hazratbal Campus, Naseem Bagh Campus and Mirza Bagh
Campus (serving residential purpose). Additional land has been acquired at
Zakura near the main campus for further expansion of the University. The
tranquil ambience of the Campus provides the right kind of atmosphere for
serious study and research. Over the Years University of Kashmir has
expanded substantially. It has established Satellite Campuses at Anantnag
(South Campus), Baramulla (North Campus) and at Kupwara, to make higher
education more accessible to people living in remote areas of Kashmir
valley. The University has also established a Sub-Office at Jammu to cater
to the needs of the candidates enrolled with the University from outside
Kashmir. The University is committed to provide an intellectually
stimulating environment for productive learning to enhance the educational,
economic, scientific, business and cultural environment of the region. The
University offers programmes in all the major faculties. It has been
constantly introducing innovative/ new programmes to cater to the needs and
demands of the students and the society. Over the years, the University has
marched towards excellence in its programmes and activities. It has been
re-accredited as Grade-A+ University by the National Assessment &
Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India. The university is ranked 53 by NIRF,
and 56 by Q7 BRICS. This is recognition and reflection of the high standard
of quality in teaching and research at the University of Kashmir. The
University of Kashmir is eulogized for its exceptional contribution towards
teaching, research, and service in nation building. It also provides equal
opportunity for students from different streams at various levels of

accepted from time to time the Semester system, Choice Based Credit System

*About the Department*
Established in 1970, the Department of library and Information Science
went on to become an iconic institution in the field of information
management . The department grooms future library leaders by following a
judicious blend of theory and practice by using highly innovative teaching
pedagogy. The Department endeavors to produce great thinkers and problem
solvers, who go on to make this world a better place to live.

*How to reach Srinagar*
*By Air:* the nearest airport to reach Srinagar is Srinagar Airport (an
international airport). This airport is well connected and airlines offer
regular flights from Srinagar to Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Lucknow and
Bangalore. The airport is located just few kilometers away from the center
of the city.
*By Rail:* To reach Srinagar by train, one has to reach Banihal railway
station. From the Srinagar Railway station, you can hire Cabs / taxis to
reach this center of the city / University of Kashmir.
*By Road*: Srinagar is the capital of the Jammu and Kashmir UT. The city is
well connected with major cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Leh and Jammu.
There is good Bus service and Cab service available.
*About Srinagar City*
The city has great attractions where people can visit during their stay in
Kashmir. These include the Srinagar city that is located on the banks of
the river Jehlum with several attractive places like the Dal lake, Nigeen
lake, house boats, Mughal gardens (Nishat, Shalimar, Chasheme Shahi, Pari
Mahal, Tulip garden, Botanical garden etc). All these places are accessible
within 30 min drive from the University campus.
*Call for Papers*
Proposals are invited from IATLIS members, LIS teachers, researchers,
practitioners, and students on the following theme and sub-themes of the
conference. Those interested to submit their papers are required to submit
a one-page (250 to 500 words) abstract as an MS-Word mail attachment, and
latest by 15 October 2023 to *iatlisconference2023@gmail.com*
