All Karnataka Engineering College Library Professionals Association (AKELPA), comes into existence on 18th July 2009 in the presence of 250 library professionals of engineering college libraries of Karnataka at Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE) with the following objectives. 1. To devise, formulate and set up standards, norms, rules, guidelines for engineering college libraries of Karnataka. 2. To establish a common platform for all LIS professionals by conducting state, national and international level workshops, seminars, conferences, short terms training programs and other developmental activities. 3. To uphold and maintain the position of Engineering Librarianship in terms of pay scales, promotion, training etc. 4. To orchestrate and synchronize with the state, central government and national, international agencies with regard to the issues of the engineering library professionals. 5. To craft right recommendations to university, government and other authorities and organizations to safeguard the profession and professionals. 6.
