Recent move by West Bengal government to ban the subscription of all English dailies and two local newspapers in State run public libraries has triggered a lot of controversy across WB and in other parts of the country. This is the move to curtail the free thinking and undemocratic. Here is a quote from the The 2007 Nobel Laureate for Literature Dorris Lessing on importance of libraries in a democratic society. " With a library you are free not confined by the temporary political climates. It is the most democratic of institutions because no one, no one at all -can tell you what to read and when and how" ------------------------- With best wishes Vasantha Raju N -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
