Dear All, Why such type of major differences of essential qualification, experience etc. for the same position in the Institutes of National Importance. I feel it is hard for NIT to get the post filled by Staff already working in Govt sector because of high experience asked for the post of DL. The policy makers and top leaders of LIS needs to think on the same to bring uniformity at least in the institutes of similar nature. I feel that policy matters related to library profession has been hijacked by other professional ? An article i had written on the same which is available at: http://crl.du.ac.in/ical09/papers/index_files/ical-59_128_285_2_RV.pdf Advertisement for DL at NIT and IIT http://lisportal.com/en/jobs/1059-deputy-librarian-and-assistant-librarian-a... http://lisportal.com/en/jobs/1047-deputy-librarian-at-indian-institute-of-te... Yes, it is true that recent Advertisements for LIS posts in many Govt institutions do not adhere to the UGC or AICTE norms. Instead, they are flouted in many ways to suit their local 'needs' and the so called monitoring agencies turn a blind eye to these violations; which end up in court cases against anomalies in qualifications, experience, API score, etc. It is high time that we should bring this to the notice of UGC/AICTE to stop flouting recruitment rules. It is an irony that no LIS association makes an attempt to fight against such glaring irregularities. Dr Koteswara Rao, retd librarian, UOH Sent from my iPhone
