National workshop on Use of Technology for Marketing of Library and Information Resources held on 7-8 June 2013
Dear Professionals It gives us immense pleasure to inform you that, SVKM's NMIMS organized , National Workshop on Use of Technology for Marketing of Library and Information Service and e - Resources 7-8 June, 2013 ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP The main function of libraries and information centres is to collect the information from various sources, organized and process it, and distribute it to target users. Libraries have been doing this by means of various library services. Keeping in view cost of information, processing time and other inputs, libraries can maximize their ROI if information services are being used by larger population of users. This demands need of marketing for the users at right time in a right way. Libraries and information centers are facing a time of unprecedented change and challenges. Recent technological developments are creating new form and source of information, bypassing traditional libraries. Library users are transcending into customers with rising expectations, diverse needs ,wants and choices. Libraries and information centers should make it a point to apply new leading concepts like social networking in the marketing of their services and information to the users. In a target workshop, we plan to discuss various methods of identifying the services needs , skills required for effective marketing and how we can avail ourselves of technology for marketing. The key aspects for this workshop will be group discussions brain storming role plays and case studies. *ABOUT NMIMS * The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) ( Deemed to be University) established in 1981 has over 13,000 students and 350 faculty members representing an eclectic mix of industry and academic experience in severed diverse domains of knowledge.
