I am pleased to inform you that we decided to fix the registration fee at Rs. 2000/- for retired LIS / Information professionals to encourage more LIS professionals to attend and participate in the conference. Ranganathan Memorial Lectures will be delivered during the conference by Dr. Joseph Tennis (I-school, University of Washington, President, ISKO and immediate past-chair of Dublin Core Metadata Initiative). Also note that the IKO 2017 (Innovations in Knowledge Organization 2017)- an annual event organized by the Singapore Chapter of the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) - will be held as a pre-conference event on 23rd October and all those who register for the main conference will also be eligible to attend IKO 2017. On Earth Day in April 2017 thousands of people gathered in London for a March for Science, protesting the negative impact of post-truth culture and politics on science, research and education. How can the Knowledge Organization community engage with and respond to these issues? In this session, David Clarke will describe the problem space and comment on the issues from the perspective of knowledge organisation and information science.
