NISCAIR Short Term Course on Bibliometric Tools and Techniques

NISCAIR announces its following forthcoming short term course: Course title: "Bibliometric Tools and Techniques for Measurement and Evaluation of Research Output" Duration: 24-28 November 2008 Topics covered: Bibliometrics and associated areas, elements and laws, tools and techniques, quantitative and qualitative indicators, derivation and testing of performance measures, scientific collaboration and citation impact, advanced data analysis methods, bibliometric technology, carrying out studies, writing articles/reports on bibliometrics etc. Target audience: LIS Faculty, Research Scholars & Students interested in Bibliometrics, Library staff of R&D institutes and universities NISCAIR expertise: NISCAIR has a strong bibliometrics unit that provides various bibliometric services including providing analytical research output reports of research institutions, individual scientists and so on. The unit has also been entrusted with several assignments of national importance including carrying out scientometric studies for the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awards, INSA Young Scientists Award and others every year. NISCAIR has at its disposal important resources such as the ISI's Web of Science to carry out its bibliometric activities. In-house and external experts shall form the faculty of the course and the participants shall get adequate theoretical and practical knowledge in the specified areas. Course fee: Rs. 2000/- without accommodation and Rs. 2600/- with accommodation Number of participants: The number of participants are limited to 20 on first-come-first-served basis.
