Sub: *International Workshop** on UNESCO's WINISIS/GenISIS **For Digital Libraries/Archives* Mahatma Gandhi University Library is organizing in association with Marian College Kuttikkanam an International Workshop on UNESCO's WINISIS/GenISIS For Digital Libraries/Archives from 6-9 September 2008 at Marian College, Kuttikkanam, Peermade, Idukki, Kerala India The workshop intended for researchers, librarians and information managers will provide capacity to the participants: for developing and managing Digital Archives, Digital Libraries and personal e-Document collections using WINISIS and GenISIS, making them accessible with search mechanisms over Intranet/Internet using GenISISWEB, publishing them with search engine in CDROMs using GenISISCD; all simple and easy to use open source packages from UNESCO. At the end of the workshop participants will be able to create electronic publications with search and full text retrieval facility and launch Digital Libraries/Archives of full text, image, audio and video files, accessible over the Web. Resource Persons will be experts in developing and publishing e-documents/collections using GenISIS including K. Rajasekharan from KILA who has developed the simplified manuals used worldwide on the concerned packages, and Sainul Abideen P from IIITM-K, who has developed various electronic publications and collection using the package. Participants need only prior basic knowledge in using computers. Training Kit will be a functional CDROM Publication demonstrating the power of the packages covered and will include the software, manuals, and course materials. The venue of the programme; Marian College Kuttikkanam occupies a site, nestled in the Sahyadri mountain ranges of Kerala. The scenic environment is mountainous, with forestland and mist covered landscape. The eco friendly Campus is situated at *Kuttikkanam*, a famous tourist place beside Kottayam-Kumily road. Located at an altitude of 4500 ft. above the sea level in a sylvan setting of scenic beauty, the temperature at the Campus vary from 12 degree C to 30 degree C.
