Abstract Management Information Systems are important instruments in corporate houses, financial institutions and large organizations to support decision-making process. In this sense they are a class of information institutions along with libraries and KMS. In a way each one of these has emerged in response to user needs. MIS emerged in the 1960s when computers were applied to the routine decision making problems. These systems use the raw (usually historical) data from data processing systems to prepare management summaries, to chart information on trends and cycles and to monitor actual performance against plans or budget.
