It is a great pleasure in inviting you for the BOSLA Annual Lecture Series-2018 and for the celebrations of the 126th birth anniversary of the father of library science, Dr. S. R. Ranganathan on Saturday, 8th December 2018 at MMRDA, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Bandra East, Mumbai. The one-day event starting at 10.00am will have a series of lectures by eminent speakers on the theme 'Next Generation Libraries: The Way Forward.' and felicitation to superannuated members and PhD Awardees. The concept of Libraries has changed multifold in the last two decades. The advancement in technologies has revolutionized the formats, transitions, and transformation of information that has enabled access to the desired contents anywhere in the world. The digital age and tech-savvy generation expect the information at the point of time. The social networking and online tools have enhanced and enabled the access to desired information at a rapid rate. They are playing a major role in sharing the information. There is a high expectation from young generation from the libraries in terms of how best they can serve the information needs instantaneously on their handheld devices. The architecture of source database, cloud-based storage concepts, navigational and discovery tools, remote access applications, how best the library spaces can be converted to attract the users and how fast the services can be delivered with innovative ideas are the key points of deliberations of the one-day event.
