Sad demise of Dr. Ishwar Bhat
Dear Professionals, It is shoking to learn that Dr. Ishwara Bhat, a well known LIS Professional and Pro - VC of Presidency University, Bengaluru passed away on 15 April 2023. Dr. Bhat did his PhD in LIS from Karnatak University, Dharwad under the guidance of Prof S L Sangam. A Gold Medalist from Bangalore University, Dr Bhat had work experience of over 40 years as under: Chief Librarian and Pro - VC of Presidency University; University Librarian and Unit Chief, Publications and Media Relations, BITS Pilani; Regional Manager (Libraries) Northern India, British Council, Delhi; Manager, The British Library, Hyderabad and Chief Librarian, NIMHANS, Bangalore. Dr. Bhat taught courses in Communication Skills, Negotiation Skills, Knowledge Management, Digital Libraries, etc. He was Editor of the BITS Pilani journal, βCURIEβ during 2011-2014, covering technical articles in Science, Engineering and Management. Apart from being an interface between media and BITS, he was also responsible for publications in BITS like Annual Report, Research@BITS, and BITScan. Dr. Bhat served as Member in several National Committees including Steering Committee for INDEST and Selection Committee Member for LIS Professionals in few Universoties. Dr. Bhat wrote content for several LIS course materials including AP Open University, IGNOU, VMOU, Kota and UGC Inflibnet. Dr. Bhat has edited 3 books and authored 25 research papers. I condole sad demise of Dr. Ishwar Bhat and pray the Almighty to his family members ti bear this great loss.
