Dear Moderator, Please post the following Announcement Event - National Seminar Date - March 23-24, 2017 Organized by - Department of Library and Information Science, Vidyasagar University, Midnapur, Dist-Paschim Medinipur, PIN – 721 102, West Bengal Title- Bonding of People’s Knowledge and People’s University: Pre-requisites of Knowledge Economy About The Seminar Information infrastructure is the backbone of modern civilization. Public libraries are established as the foremost destination of information activity. In spite of gradual decrease in regular visitors to our public libraries the Indian society is said to be an information society. Nevertheless India is all set jump into the era of knowledge economy. Considering the essential prerequisites for economics of such society the contribution of public libraries in information activity of the community became the thrust of the present seminar. In pursuit of changing face of library services and activities the Department of Library and Information Science of Vidyasagar University organizing two day National Seminar on “Bonding of People’s Knowledge and People’s University: Pre-requisites of Knowledge Economy”. During the seminar the theme will be discussed to conceptualize the structure and method, required technology and techniques to adopt from multiple perspectives ranging from resource development to user education to achieve the Knowledge Economy in true sense. This seminar intends to measure the present scenario of information activity of the general people of India for their community development. The original field based research works are expected to facilitate in conceptualising thrust areas of public library services in the era of knowledge economy.
