Dear friends, As far as I understand LIS is a professional course which should have compulsory practical training or internship in a library in the last semester of the course. It is absurd and meaningless to have an online LIS internship ? My sincere request is Please don’t make everything online. Dr M Koteswara Rao Former librarian University of Hyderabad

Dear Sir,
This program is not compulsory to attend.
It is an effort to help those students who don't get the opportunity to
learn practical skills.
However, there is no registration fee for this internship.
The internship is only to assist students in interactive mode.
If anyone is not willing to join, they may skip this.
Sincere thanks for your mail and suggestions, sir.
With kind regards,

Friends,
I agree with Dr Koteswara Rao that internships in a professional field have
to be hands-on and cannot be online.
You cannot learn motor car repairing without actually dirtying your hands
or learn swimming without actually jumping into water.
Best wishes.

Dear Sir, It is better to have something than nothing. Many students reported in person that they want to learn but not getting any opportunity. Keeping that in view, we thought of having online internship for MLISc students. However, many foreign universities also have this concept of having online internship by paying the amount. If anyone is not willing to join, may skip this. This internship is only to help students to get awareness and skills before they start working in the library.. Thanks for your mail and suggestions DP Tripathi On Thu, 16 May, 2024, 3:34 pm Subbiah Arunachalam, < subbiah.arunachalam@gmail.com> wrote:

Dear Sir,
To say that such online training is in vogue in the West is not at all justified. It is OK with arts, humanities and social science subjects, but how can we give practical hands-on training online in STEM disciplines?
In my opinion lack of practical training among our fresh LIS students has become a stumbling stone for getting employment in today's digital information world.
