Dear All, I am pleased to announce the following upcoming event: Sub: Refresher Course in the subject of “Library & Information Science” Tata Institute of Social Sciences is conducting a 21 days Refresher Course in the subject of Library & Information Science. The theme is “New Challenges in Information Management: Issues and Opportunities for Librarianship”. It is scheduled to be held from 1st Sept 2003 to 21st Sept 2003. The objective of this Refresher Course is to make Librarians feel fresh and updated after the training is over and really contribute to the teaching – learning process. The eligibility conditions are mentioned below. Application Form will be sent upon receipt of an e-mail request. Minimum UGC Requirement for participation in Refresher Courses The Minimum UGC Requirement for participation in Refresher Courses is as follows: Here Librarian means either a College Librarian or a University Assistant Librarian/Lecturer In Library & Information Science who are in the pay scale of Rs.8000-13, 500 and above The gap in two successive Refresher Courses should normally be two years and may be relaxed if the adequate number of participants are not available or it is essential for the Librarian to fulfill eligibility condition for his/her career advancement. The College should be included in the List of Colleges under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, even though they may not yet be fit under Section 12-13 of the same Act. If the College has not yet come within the purview of Section 2(f) but have been affiliated to a University for at least five years may also participate in the Refresher Course.
