Different educational institutes like; colleges and universities are progressively transitioning from traditional paper and microfilm to digital formats for the submission and dissemination of theses and dissertations. While this move from print-based to electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) greatly enhances the accessibility and sharing of student research, it also presents significant challenges for the academic libraries that must preserve this digital content.
The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in collaboration with AutherCafe is going to organize a Seminar on Electronic Theses & Dissertations (ETDs) Lifecycle Management on 30th January 2020 at the auditorium, CV Mess, IGNCA, New Delhi to promote best practices and to increase the capacity of academic libraries to consistently preserve ETDs.
AuthorCafe is a Knowledge Management Platform that facilitates academia for the creation, collaboration, review, dissemination and the administration of research content such as reports, theses, dissertations and grant proposals. It provides workflows to simplify thesis and dissertation development, department approval, college approval and submission process. AuthorCafe aims to boost up your institutional research output and its effectiveness through;
• Enhanced productivity of research writing through automation and streamlined workflow
• Creation of digital repository of institutional research output
• Enable content to make it searchable and discoverable, and improve ranking
• Simplified research activity reporting and assessment
• Quick setup, progress monitoring and administration with greater control
The sessions during the seminar will offer ETD Lifecycle guidance and demonstration on management tools. These brainstorming session will be valuable to a range of ETD program stakeholders, including students, researchers, university administrators, graduate schools, libraries, and service providers. The documents cover a range of relevant and timely topics:
• What is ETD and its use.
• What is ETD lifecycle management?
• Discussions on Issues and Challenges being faced by ETD lifecycle management.
• Presentations of Case Studies.
• Demo of AuthorCafe & related technologies/services.
• Discussions and Q&A on how AuthorCafe can address needs of ETD lifecycle management.
