This is indeed a Nobel gesture for the Librarians from a Librarian.
As a user of NewGenLib (http://opac.sdmimd.net) from past 1year, I feel this is one of the most robust and quality Integrated Library System (ILS) in the Indian ILS Products. The adherence to the international standards, the systematic workflow, interoperability standards and integration level of NewGenLib has brought best practices in the library administration.
As mentioned by Dr. Francis Jaykanth, NewGenLib is true integrated software. It aims at integrating the concept of Library Automation, Institutional Repository and Digital Library and made librarians’ job easy.
NewGenLib – a product developed by the able guidance of a Librarian, who is an authority in the area of library administration and library automation is the best of its kind.
I thank Mr. Haravu, the Trustees of Kesavan Institute of Information and Knowledge Management (KIIKM) and Versus Solutions for this gesture to the knowledge society.
I am sure, your contribution will change the way Librarians think in adopting OS-ILS.
With sincere thanks

It is indeed a very Good News to all the LIS professionals in India. NewGenLib is truly an International package worth putting under Open source software, where the whole World can appreciate the Indian expertise in LIS. Although many ILS packages were developed in India, none have reached perfection like NewGenLib in terms of its integration, popularity, use of standards like MARC, UNICODE,etc. Congratulations to Dr. Haravu and his team of the Kesavan Institute for creating an excellent library automation package, and making it available under Open General License. A long cherished dream of many libraries wanting to have a good ILS has now come true. I am sure that many of our libraries will greatly benefit by this software and hope the Library automation scenario in our country will now change for good. Dr. M.
