Some of them were not computer scientists or IT professionals per say; yet they had made contributions to IT that are lasting and transformative. We can benefit by knowing who they were/are and what their unique contributions were and how those contributions helped shape and advance IT, as well as by learning their key traits. Studies reveal breakthrough thinkers see the world metaphorically and draw insights from different disciplines and important digital advances have been made by teams, not lone geniuses. In this talk, the speaker will briefly narrate the history of digital (r)evolution, identify and profile a few key people behind the revolution and their contributions, and highlight their passion, vision and zeal. He will also discuss the lessons we can learn from them and their motivations. Digital technology will continue to evolve and transform the world further. Hopefully, by learning and following their key traits and adapting those traits to suite your circumstances, you too can make lasting contributions to the field of IT and its applications and become an IT mastermind. About the Speaker ============== Dr. San Murugesan is Editor in Chief of IEEE IT Professional; Director of BRITE Professional Services; and adjunct professor at University of Western Sydney, Australia. He is a corporate trainer, a consultant and an author. He is a former Senior Research Fellow of the US National Research Council, at NASA Ames Research Center, California, USA, and served in various positions at ISRO satellite Centre, Bangalore. His expertise and interests span a range of areas: cloud computing, green IT, IT for emerging regions, IoT, smart systems and mobile applications. He is a co-editor of the book, Harnessing Green IT: Principles and Practices (John Wiley, 2012; Indian Edition, 2013), and upcoming Encyclopedia of Cloud Computing (Wiley, 2015). He edits and contributes to the "Cloud Cover" department in Computer and serves on several committees and boards. He is Standing Chair of the new COMPSAC Symposium on IT in Practice (ITiP). Dr. Murugesan is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society, a Fellow of IETE and a Sr. Member and Distinguished Visitor of IEEE CS.
