Our terms - payment against bill (no advance payment), bank rate on the date of the bill. We have been able to get discounts ranging from 20% to 30%

Regarding database of suppliers and the publishers they represent, I would like to inform , that British library has published such online directory, for British publishers.
The directory published by National Book Trust during World Bookfair, 2004 has listed all the suppliers, who participated in the fair, along with the names of publishers they represent.
Many publishers from US are not represented in India. I wonder whether there is any supplier to import books published by ALA. If there are no authorised stockists or representatives, then postage will be too high as mentioned by Mr.Chandra. Barnes and Noble, whom I met recently in US are willing to supply books to Indian libraries if the business offered is US $5000/- per year. They also offer about 20% discount.
We at IGIDR have prepared database of suppliers in the area of social sciencs. The data can be provided in ISO2709 format for those who are interested.

Now it is high time that all the book sellers come together and create an accessible database for searching and procuring books in India
