Of interest to some portion of the list: I, along with San Jose State
University iSchool has developed an online MOOC entitled “Blockchain &
Decentralization for the Information Industries”. Running for 6
weeks, and being provided online freely for participants, the course
is designed to introduce the technological concepts around
blockchain-based and other decentralized systems and examine how they
could be used in libraries, museums, archives, publishing, and other
portions of the information ecosystem.
The course starts March 11 and runs through Apr 21, and registration
is now open:
https://www.canvas.net/browse/sjsu/courses/blockchain-decentralization
The weekly breakdown looks like this:
Week 1 - March 11-17 - Overview and History of Blockchain
Week 2 - March 18-24 - Issues, Considerations, Problems
Week 3 - March 25-31 - Decentralization
Week 4 - April 1-7 - Systems & Services
Week 5 - April 8-14 - Use Cases – Public Libraries, Academic Libraries,
Museums, Archives
Week 6 - April 15-21 - Future Directions & Next Steps
Please share far and wide, to any group that might be interested. No
prior knowledge of the tech is necessary, just a desire to read and
learn about it.
I’ll see everyone there!
