Speaker: Mr. Seetharaman M N, Rtd. Librarian, NAL, Bangalore. Abstract: In this talk Mr. Seetharaman would stress on the ongoing debate about the relevance of libraries and librarians in the era of internet and digital age. The need for librarians to be aware of fast moving changes in the global library and information environment. How the emerging library 2.0 concept would change the way we work. He is going to stress on the Need for librarians to develop basic and high level competencies to meet the challenges of the changed environment in the way we deliver our services. How the present day Librarians need to equip themselves such that they become successful information brokers for both print and electronic media. The ways and means to develop skills to identify, retrieve, organize, repackage and provide electronic access to digital information sources and how to become a change agent for technology applications. He is also presenting a case study on how to make a sick library into a modern, vibrant knowledge centre. About The Speaker: Mr. Seetharaman M N has done his Master's Degree (International Relations), from Pune University. He has also done Associateship in Information & Documentation, Indian National Scientific Documentation Centre, CSIR, New Delhi during the year 1966. He was heading Information Centre for Aerospace Sciences & Technology (ICAST) between 1965-1988 at National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bangalore. He has worked as a Chief Librarian, Central Library, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras from 1989-1992. He has served as a Information Products Manager at Global Information Systems Technology, Bangalore during 1992-1996. During 1996-1997 , he has served as a Consulting Editor, Computer Software Magazine, 3SE (Software, Services, Support & Education) Ltd. Bangalore. From 1997 to 2009 he has served as a Sr. Consultant: Project Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Information Management and Events Management in Composites Technology Park, Bangalore. Presently he is serving as a country Representative for India, with Curran Associates Inc, Red Hook, New York to publicize and Market high tech International Conference Proceedings published by about 300 professional associations worldwide.
