College for Women (formerly "S.I.E.T Women's College") is maintained by the Southern India Education Trust, founded by Late Justice Mr. Basheer Ahmed Sayeed assisted by his wife Mrs. Fathima Akhtar and other colleagues. The College maintains high standards of excellence in the academic sphere and in the physical amenities and facilities intended to implement the educational programme. The College endeavours to enroll students who hold high standards of performance, discipline and achievement. The college admits all eligible women students from all parts of the country and world irrespective of caste, creed or religion. J.B.A.S. college for Women is one of the reputed autonomous colleges in the country which is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India (NAAC) as an outstanding college with ‘ A’ Grade. The College holds the first position amongst the Women’s Colleges in Chennai City. The Library holds more than 76500 volumes of books and other resources and subscribes to many national and international journals and e-resources to cater to the needs of the students and faculty. The library services are fully automated. Library provides many innovative library services to students and faculty members. Library organizes many Information Literacy (IL) programmes regularly for effective utilization of library resources. SALIS SALIS is a registered professional body, actively involved in the development of all spheres of Library and Information Science (LIS) by organizing various programmes such as conferences, seminars, workshops, training programmes, lectures on emerging topics throughout the year in various parts of the country through its various chapters located in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Erode, Tirunelveli, Delhi-NCR, Nagpur, etc. SALIS publishes national and international journals, proceedings for exchange of information and knowledge sharing among professionals. It has instituted several awards to motivate LIS professionals. One of the objectives of SALIS is to train the LIS professionals to handle the latest IT tools and techniques more efficiently and also understand and adopt best practices in order to provide quality service to the users. ABOUT THE CONFERENCE Libraries are the knowledge storehouse and dissemination centres of all academic and research institutions. The invention of printing press in 1440 and the advent of Internet in 1980’s brought out a paradigm shift in the Information Storage and Retrieval (ISR) and knowledge dissemination. The 21st century witnessed new technologies such as internet, web, digital, technologies, mobile, security technologies, search engines, social networking tools, cloud computing, which affected the libraries. Libraries are undergoing rapid and tremendous changes now due to information explosion and user demand on one side and revolutions of ICT on the other side. Libraries are attempting to embrace these technologies to understand the user needs and also to provide innovative information services to the users OBJECTIVE OF THE CONFERENCE The conference is intended to provide a forum for LIS professionals and practicing Librarians to discuss, deliberate and exchange of knowledge, ideas and best practices on the emerging trends that can be adopted to provide next generation library services. Paper should not exceed 5 pages of A4 size with 1.5 line spacing and font size 12 in Times New Roman. Charts, graphs, photographs, if any,should be inserted at proper places in the paper if absolutely necessary. References should be given as per the Chicago Style. Authors are advised not to include downloaded materials andfigures from the Internet. A declaration by the author(s) should be given separately stating that the paper has not been presented/ published elsewhere. Papers accepted for presentation will be intimated to the first author by e-mail. Papers should be prepared and submitted strictly based on the guidelines (pl. refer conference website for more details) and submitted along with the registration fee. Papers will be accepted for publication only after being reviewed by the technical committee. Co-authors need to pay the registration fee separately. Incase of the same author publishing more than one paper, she or he has to pay the registration fee according to the number of papers.Please note that the papers will not be accepted without registration fee.
