new engineering college

Dear moderater, Can you please publish this as an answer for a query in this forum 1. Follow AICTE norms given in the handbook. Read it carefully and see the answer given below. Insist to add more titles in a given subject to give variety and also to increase the knowledge base for the user. It gives the perspective of different authors and how they have rendered the subject. When the college starts, minimum 4000 books and preferably 5000 books has to be added. Each branch should have 120 titles X 4 copies. Common physics, chemistry, mathematics together should have 1500 books. Rest of the collection should include general personality development, general knowledge, spiritual, general etc. Each title need not have 4 copies. Get more copies of high demand books and only one or two copies of other reference material. 2. Only latest editions to be supplied unless other wise specified. Damaged books and books with pages bound wrongly etc to be taken back. Your order should be acknowledged within a weeks time and supply status to be informed to you. Exchange rates should be current. Books if not supplied within the specified time need not be bought by the library. (Please use your discretion in this regard.) 3. Work more, waste less time in unnecessary procedures. Convince the management about your workload and try to get more staff. Take student assistants to help in the library and get amount sanctioned to pay them. Train your existing staff to perform better. 4. Keep stock register in good shape. Fill all fields required and automate your library collections. All bills to be maintained properly and produced when required. Searches to find library collections through library OPAC should be possible. You should have added and improved the library collections as per norms. NBA requires mandatory collections in department library (small collections for immediate reference) 5. You will get it from AICTE website. See the latest formula for new engineering colleges regarding book additions in the site given.
