Science and technology has undergone tremendous improvement and the reflection of its improvement can be seen in almost all our daily activities. The IT revolution has increased the demand, consumption, importance of information in present society. The librarians with massive volume of information available in the libraries are faced with challenges relating to effective storage, processing, retrieval, and dissemination of information. The IT has touched and enhanced almost all fields and libraries are not an exception. Rapid advances in IT in the past two decades have brought revolutionary changes in the concept, organization, functioning, and management of libraries throughout the world. Worldwide, libraries have been exploring new technologies for providing better and faster access to vast information resources. Information technologies today are characterized by their very dynamic development and increasing complexity. The modern technology has greatly improved the capabilities of managing the explosive growth of information effectively, and has also contributed in providing effective library services. IT is been widely used for carrying out the technical activities of libraries, but it is also been used for shaping the library services for providing efficient information services to the library users. IT has offered better solutions to achieve greater level of efficiency, productivity, and user centered services in libraries. We are in the most challenging time when technology and our traditional library values are converging. Libraries have undergone a great paradigm shift under the influence of IT. In this Information Society, everyone acknowledges that information plays a central role in their development. Therefore, libraries have evolved into information providers rather than mere document providers. The expansion of Internet has opened up electronic information to the masses, and there is an increasing demand for information to be presented in an visually appealing manner. Indeed, recent advances in the field of IT are contributing significantly to improve the services of libraries. Further, the impact of IT has led to a paperless society, digital libraries, and virtual libraries. While acknowledging the changes taking place in the mode and service of information delivery and usage, it is important that the library professionals rediscover the specialized needs and expectations of the users so that they can reevaluate the library services, and reinvigorate the library professional. The future of libraries greatly depend on the librarians attempt to understand the evolving IT and equip themselves accordingly. With these parameters in mind it is planned to organize a two day national conference on “IMPACT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ON LIBRARY SERVICES”in collaboration with the Kuvempu University College Librarians’ Association, Shivamogga, Karnataka. Call for Papers The conference intends to invite experts to deliver theme paper in each session followed by invitation to authors to present their papers. Therefore, working papers based on practical experience, research findings, and case studies are invited from the library and information professionals. The accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings with ISBN. Paper Submission Details v Author(s) may submit the full text of their paper on or before November 15, 2013. v Based on the technical committee decision, acceptance of paper for presentation will be intimated to the author(s) by 25th November 2013. v The deadline for registration for the conference is 5th December, 2013. v Registration of all authors is mandatory for paper presentation and publication. v Paper can be submitted through an e-mail attachment to ncitls2013@gmail.com Instruction to Authors v Length: Not more than 10 pages for a paper. v Font: Times New Roman. v Font Size: Heading- 14 (Bold), Sub Heading -12 (Bold), Text -12 Paper Format: The papers should have the following details: v Author’s/ Joint Author’s name and communication address. v Contact details such as telephone numbers and e-mail ID. v An abstract of 100-150 words and up to 4-6 keywords v Tables and figures, if any, must have a brief caption written on the bottom of the figure and provide due reference of the original work. Conference proceedings will include only those accepted papers for which the registration fee has been paid by all the authors of the paper before 5th December 2013. Registration Fees Delegates with Accommodation Rs. 2000 Delegates Without Accommodation Rs. 1500 Students and Full-Time Research Scholars with Accommodation Rs.1500 (Without Kit) Students and Full-Time Research Scholars Without Accommodation Rs.1000 (Without Kit) The registration fee includes conference kit, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and coffee/tea.
