Friends: Dr Alma Swan, a champion of open access, came to India twice in 2006. First she came to give the keynote address at a special session on open access at the Annual Meeting of the Indian Science Congress Association held at Hyderabad in the first week of January. She came again in the first week of November to speak at the workshop on electronic publishing and open access held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
