Dear LIS Professionals, Karnataka State Library Association (KALA) in Collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services, Bangalore and SLA Asian Chapter Organises "SoFerence - 2011: A Social Conference" on Knowledge/Experience Sharing on 15 October 2011 at Tata Consultancy Services, Bangalore, India. Introduction Days are gone, when LIS professionals were finding it difficult to struggle to align themselves properly in the industry. Present generation of LIS fraternity is very much networked and interacting at optimal level. We learn many things from the student life to manage our present professional life. Recent advancements in ICT helped LIS professionals to enhance their skill sets to achieve the best in the industry. However, there are many issues, which are still unanswered. That's where the SoFerence provides a kind of platform required and also play a vital role in finding out such solutions. About SoFerence It is a social platform, which allows professionals to share their experiences in the form of best practices, processes improvements, new initiatives, success stories, case studies, etc., which will help other co-professionals to know and implement them at their workplace. Author Guidelines Manuscripts Requirements: Length: No length has been prescribed for a paper; however, authors are advised to write concisely. Theme Font: Times New Roman Font Size: 28 = Heading, 16 = Sub Heading and 12 = rest of the text. Title: The title should be brief and typed on a separate sheet. Paper Format: The paper should have the following details: - Cover page giving title - Sub-Theme of the paper to which the paper belongs - Author's / Co-Author's name - Communication address - Contact details like telephone number, fax number, and email - Second page must have title and an abstract of 100-150 words along with 8-10 key words - The actual paper should begin from the third page - Headings & sub headings should be defined clearly and short - Footnotes may be used wherever necessary, which should be identified in the text by consecutive numbers, placed as superscript. - Case Studies proposed may preferably be supported by real life case examples from business situations - Quality of Illustrations, Photos etc. must be good with original caption and in black and white - Tables and Figures, if any must have a brief caption written on the bottom of the figure - References must be in standard format as given below: For books: Surname, initials, (year), title, publisher, place of publication. Papers should be submitted in a detailed format suggested in the conference website. 3. Acceptance of paper for presentation will be intimated to the participants by 25 Sept., 2011. 4. In case of co-authors, correspondence will be sent to the first author only. 5. The deadline for registering for the SoFerence is 20 Sept., 2011. 6. Accepted papers will be called for presentation and based on participants' feedback, papers for the SoFerence Souvenir (to be published in both in digital & print format) will be selected. However, Abstract (max25 lines) of all selected papers will be included in the SoFerence Souvenir (with ISBN No.). 7. Registration for all authors is mandatory for paper presentation. 8.
