Librarian Visvesvaraya Technological University Jnana Sangama Belagavi-590018 *ABSTRACT:* This study has made a modest effort to examine the existing status of Information Literacy programmes and practices are implemented in the Engineering College Libraries of Karnataka under the Bangalore region. The significant findings of the study are identified by data received and the opinion of the working librarians through the survey method. This study centered on eight objectives and six hypotheses. The study has evaluated the status of Information Literacy; ICT infrastructure, information delivery models, content of coverage, IL programme delivery, library staff competency, information literacy assessment and evaluation, problem of organizing information literacy prorgamme and suggested demo model of information literacy. The researcher has used simple averages and some statistical techniques to test and verify the hypotheses. The findings and the results of the study are useful to all libraries in general and engineering college libraries in particular.
