Dear Manju, I agree with your opinion.In Maharashatra the number of Libraries and that of Librarian's ratio is un favourable.This is because the package the Librarians are supposed to get is based with very very less comparative to teachers/professors and others. we try to impress the profiles of librarianship on the management who are typical and burocrat mentalities except the emerging corporate fileds.These corporates are interested in IT areas expert than Library professionals to manage their collection / knowledge/documents etc.They do not think the professionaly and technicalyy expert Librarian, as the attitudes are dominatings. Instead of thinking Government to do something for us the Corporates Like INFOSYS, WIPROS, Banking and Financial Institutions where knowledge hubs and research are in progress. Our forum may take initiative not only to a particular part of the country but it should be in all states. At the same time we must make our profesionals to move towards skills of new developed IT and always upgrade ourselves with creative mind for offering services.We didnot get the experts/enthu library workers where they are needed.This is because the salary/benefits/educational qualifications etc are the hurdeles.As emerging corporates are tying educational institutes for their work forces library professionals should also get such opportunities.Recently ET / TO I dated 18/ 12/06 have annouced such type of picking up work forces or making their own organisations as educational base for future job opportunities in the company itself. Government otherwise is busy with politics and many issues but the thing may be possible if we approach our President who loves education and research and that of creative minds. I request our great forum expert to do something bright for librarians all over the country. Kshipra Sardesai
