Can any metrics measure the "Intellectual Output" of an author?

*Dear All,* Elsevier introduces a new metric called "h5 Index". Almost every year the publishing industry introduces new metrics. Maybe for business profit or really they worry about research output. Can any metrics measure the *"Intellectual Output"* of an author? I am not sure about it. Dear All, what is your opinion about metrics? *-----------------------------------------------------------------* *Please **Think before you Print. Nice question,
I have also a question about what is Intellectual output?

*Dear Sir,*
Thanks for asking the question. In this context *"Intellectual output" *means
an activity that results in tangible and meaningful outcomes.

Thanks,
Now my personal view is any system can't touch or feel (tangible) the
things and understand its meaningful outcome. it's we human who knows the
relevance of any intellectual behavior and decide its significance for the
human being.
You pointed correctly commercial or any people attempt to provide some
solutions which may be for self-promotion or only indicators of someone's
popularity in any field of study. h5, h-index, i10 etc. are having some
drawbacks and limitations as I know. Therefore we have to use our wisdom to
draw any conclusion on the basis of these indicators.
