On occasion of Dr S R Ranganathan's Birth Anniversary, we are organising a 'National level workshop on Library Automation using Koha Open Source Software' from 09 – 11 Aug 2013. Koha : It is the First Open-Source Web-based Integrated Library System (ILS) with a SQL database backend that includes modules for Circulation, Cataloging, Acquisitions, Serials, Patron (Member) management, Library Branch relationships, and many more features. Koha is built using international library standards and protocols that ensure interoperability between Koha and other systems. It supports technologies like cataloging data stored in MARC and accessible via Z39.50 and also supports existing work-flows and tools. Koha has most of the features that would be expected in an ILS, Purpose of this workshop : To provide hands-on training to library professionals by providing adequate practical knowledge which will enable to automate the libraries on their own by using Koha. The workshop also will be useful to those who wish to migrate to Koha. Workshop comprises of lectures, demonstrations and hands-on training using Koha software in detail. Each participant will be provided with a dedicated machine. Number of participants is limited to 30 only. The participants will be selected on first come first served basis.
