Mr. Vinod Mishra,

Librarians, Deputy Librarians and Assistant Librarians are also academic
staff as per UGC (but not in IITs). Only difference is that they are
non-vacation academic staff. So, there is no problem for them to guide.
Only requirement is that the University which offers the Ph.D. programme
should have an academic department on the subject or the University
Library may also be recognised as an academic department. This is what I
would like to share.

With reference to below email i wish to know whether Assistant Librarian,
Dy Librarian and Librarian is entitle to Supervise/Guide PhD students as
per UGC rule? If yes than please provide the link/copy of the rule and if
not than what are the significance of such PhD?
