The rapid growth of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has thrown up enormous possibilities for managing knowledge resources. ICT has great potential as a tool for learning and bridging the knowledge gap. But there are numerous challenges for harnessing its power countries like India using many languages and scripts. Such countries need giving priority to research and development in areas like language technology.
