Under the aegis of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, mega efforts are being made to strengthen Digital Library, create open access Institutional Repository, providing access to Digital Resources viz. commercially published journals and databases on the desktop of scientists, enhancing the web presence, eCourses development and hosting, crop specific knowledge portals and web services through World Bank funded National Agricultural Innovation Project. In this era of transition from information age to knowledge society, libraries have much greater challenges to face. It is not only the advancing technology, there is change in the medium from physical to virtual, concept of service delivery has changed from one way to two way interactive and more customized to user needs. The whole perception of library has changed from collection of books to a single window knowledge bank. To be ready to migrate to knowledge society we need to sensitize the Indian National Agricultural Research System (NARS) comprising of State Agricultural Universities and esearch Institutions in agriculture sector.
