Ariadne, a wonderful online journal published by UKOLN, is
celebrating its tenth year of publication with a special issue (issue
46) that looks back over ten years of progress in information
technology in libraries and higher education, primarily in the UK,
and speculates about progress to come. The issue includes articles by
several of the key figures involved in shaping UK plans and policies
during that time, and should be particularly helpful for those in the
United States trying to gain deeper insight into the achievements and
lessons learned in the UK; I have also contributed a short article
looking at comparative developments across the US and UK.
